Velour Bag and Suggested Prayers

The Brigittine Rosary has six sets of 10 beads (decades). The 7 larger beads that divide the decades are in remembrance of the Seven Joys and the Seven Sorrows of Mary. A total of 63 beads signify the 63 years of Mary’s life according to Brigittine tradition.

The Brigittines are a monastic religious order originally founded in by Saint Birgitta (St. Bridget) of Sweden. In the first decade of the 1900s Elisabeth Hesselblad, a Lutheran from Sweden who converted to Catholicism, began reviving the order to its original mission and adapting it to new times.

Today, Brigittine convents have a reputation of welcoming newcomers with a missionary, ecumenical spirit.
